HISTORY

PRODUCTIONS

The producer and filmmaker David Blanco has directed, written and produced short films as Travel to the Moon (1995), Borsh, the Shelter (2001), Heart of Darkness (2004), Machulenco (2004), The Award (2012) and the documentaries Crossing the Emptiness (2002), Looking for the Sun (2007) and Lone Star, a Rock & Roll story (2016) and the feature film The Shadow of the Sun (2014), in addition he has directed commercials for different brands.

Between 2018 and 2020 David Blanco has co-produced, edited and co-written films in Israel such as Letters to God by Yves Cohen or Acceptance by Leeron Revah.

AGREEMENTS

The producer has signed pre-agreements with distribution companies such as DAplaneta, has partnered for different films and projects with the German company Busse & Halbersmith, the Thai company Happy Ending Films and the French company Bioskope Productions. Urban Films was the sales agent for “The Shadow of the Sun”, feature film shot in Barcelona and re-mastered recently, which was supported by Televisión Española S.A. (Spanish Public TV) and I.C.A.A. (Spanish Ministry of Culture), currently on streaming at Filmin and also available on Amazon Prime USAAmazon Prime UK

WORKSHOPS

The producer has participated in film co-production workshops and financial events worldwide. 

The feature film “The Shadow of the Sun” was selected at Berlinale’s European Film Crossing Borders (2006) and San Sebastian IFF’s European Producers Club (2007).

The film project “Indian Way” was selected at Primexange in Goa (2011), Ficci Frames in Mumbai (2013), Locarno IFF’s Open Doors Focus India in Switzerland (2012), in Huelva IFF’s Latin-American Co-Production Forum in Spain (2012), at London PFM in UK (2013) and in eQuinox in Germany (2016).

The film project “Circular Paths” was selected at the II SGAE-Sundance Institute Script Laboratory 2002, receiving advise by Fernando Castets (Son of the Bride, 2001), Stephen Gyllenhaal (Waterland, 1992), Zachary Sklar (JFK, Open Case, 1991) and others.
